See how the inhabitants of the Russain north lived before mass production and large urban centers at Malye Karely Open Air Museum. For centuries, wood was the only readily available building material, and the locals mastered its use to perfection. Today this open-air museum preserves some of the best examples of the forgotten craft from all over the region. Enter the traditional houses, churches, and workshops to see their authentically furnished interiors, and you'll quickly find yourself imagining what life was like in more peaceful times. Guides dressed in traditional attire provide tours of the collection. Put Malye Karely Open Air Museum at the forefront of your travel plans using our Arkhangelsk tourist route planner.

  • Even though I live in Arkhangelsk for over 20 years, but regularly-at least twice a year to visit family and this wonderful place! Nature, fresh air, beauty, great holidays and excursions.
  • There was no time with friends and tourists: full range of wooden architecture objects (churches, houses, mills, wells ...). Many can look, explore the "minimuzei" of village life. Regular events and festivals. In my opinion, it is better to visit in winter: snow abundance creates unique atmosphere.
