Trip Planner: Europe / Romania / Transylvania / Northwest Romania / Cluj County / Turda / Salina Turda
Board a panoramic wheel and observe the 1,000-year-old stalagmites, or row across a small underground lake at Salina Turda. Romans began unearthing this huge underground mine in the 2nd century. It was closed in 1932 and reopened for tourists in 1992. Old mining machines take visitors through its massive halls, and the textured salt caves also house spa equipment for halotherapy. The pressure and dampness of the caves help in the treatment of asthma and allergies. The mine also features a family entertainment area with ping pong tables and bowling lanes, an echo chamber, a crystal hall, and a 50 m (164 ft) wide and 80 m (262 ft) long hall. Worst place to visit during the covid pandemic ! There are few or no measures to prevent covid transmission and waiting times for elevators are around 45 minutes (or you can take the stairs). There... more »
Loved, loved this experience to go down into the mine and see the beauty that's down under the earth. There were ping pong tables, a ferris wheel, pool tables, boats, etc. It was really neat to be... more »
We went there at the end of the day so we did not have to wait much time (5 min) to enter and to visit everything. It is definitely worth a visit, in spite of all the non-included extra services. To.... more »
Amazing attraction. It's figuratively and literally down to earth. No screaming propaganda or flashy signs, but a welcoming entrance to the deep. The prices are very good and you'll get an unique experience. Not just for the adults, but children of all ages will have fun here as well. Didn't see that coming.
Beautiful place and a nice tourist attraction. My advice is that they put another elevator as we were wasting lot of time waiting for the elevator or they can put escalators which is much easier. Overall it’s a nice place and I recommend it to visit it
Amazing and unique experience, salt mine. Sadly we wanted to buy lot of local stuff but the card machine doesn't work down in the mine and they do not have all stuff available at the reception. We had to let go of local shopping as we did not have Ron. Would recommend taking cash.
One of the best attractions in the world... Absolutely worth a visit... You should go on the bottom of salt mine to rent a little boat... Is very nice...awesome place... The only one in Europe
Great experience, 40 lei per adult for entry. Inside you can walk for hours, sail a boat on salty lake (20 lei per boat, max 3 persons), play various games. Suitable for families with kids 8+ y.o.. Eating prohibited.
