Danube Delta, Tulcea

(4.4/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
Take a boat ride and explore the maze of canals and lakes with floating reed islands on Danube Delta. The region, which also boasts forests, meadows, and sand dunes, is home to wildcats, wolves, foxes, boars, and deer. You'll also find nearly 300 species of birds here, including Egyptian white pelicans, Arctic geese, pygmy cormorants, and white-tailed eagles. The area includes a few scattered villages on the shores, including Chilia Veche--an ancient Greek settlement and the site of a battle between the forces of Vlad the Impaler and of Mahomed II, the conqueror of Constantinople. Start your excursion at the village of Tulcea, at the end of the three channels. Plan to see Danube Delta and other attractions that appeal to you using our Tulcea vacation trip planner.

  • Nice walk in the Danube delta with a small boat which allowed us to Take in small lugs and see despite the season numerous birds. The hike was accompanied by a group of young Romanians who sang songs of course in Romanian and drinking cold that recede the palinka. Recommended

  • We chose for a One day tour in order to see as munch of the wonderful Danube Delta. The trip was a combination of a touristic route for bird watching and photography and a route for visiting some tour...  more »
  • The Danube Delta is largely well preserved and a worth visit if you move away from the major channels. One should undertake excursions with a guide and small speedboats immediately to cope with the major routes. There are numerous colonies of birds, rare species of birds and the oldest subtropical forest in Europe to observe, LETEA accommodation I would either in the Centre Mila23 or but in Sf.Gheorge recommend on the Black Sea with possibilities of visiting Sultan and Enisala with opportunities to visit monasteries.

  • Amazing place to see. One of the best in Romania. Take your camera and get ready to take some stunning pictures.
  • This is by far the most beautiful place in Romania. Take a small boat to see the birds and animals in the narrow creeks. Everyone should visit this at least once in their lifetime.
  • Wonderful place, but to really appreciate it, do not chose big tourist companies who rush you through the Delta on motor boats. The best way to enjoy the nature and the river itself is with a canoe. Be ready to spend a week in the lakes and channels, packed with birds of all kinds.
  • In my opinion it's a must see thing and it's a 10/10. The only problem is that you need to go during the season and you need a local guide, otherwise you may rate 4 stars
  • The Danube Delta is a very beautiful place, spread over an area of almost 5000 square kilometers. The variety of waterfowl is immense. Delta countless sleeves.
