  • A pleasant walk in nature in cool weather, a light-to-moderate track about 8km back. The highlight of the scales, well... It was fun.

  • Wow! This was an amazing trek up some beautiful sites in Romania. We took the less accessible route and it was quite a hike! For a person with a bad knee like me it was a challenge, but it was worth i...  more »
  • I had extended my stay in Brasov by one day to visit the canyon on this bright and beautiful March Sunday. Down at the parking lot in Timisul, I even reassured myself again with obviously local Romanian hikers who-also clueless-made their way to the canyon. Once at the top, I learned that the canyon is closed due to ice cream. Of course, the park management had already been able to write this at the bottom of the barrier, but one was apparently too lazy to do so. Service Stone Age. Duzende was rather let by visitors to waste this wonderful day, which they could also have spent skiing or tobogganing in Poiana Brasov. The only way to spare the whole possible superfluous walk is to ask those who are already on their way back, whether the above is open or not. As some Romanians tell me, the park management closes only for insurance reasons-it does not monitor whether visitors bypass the closed gate (see attached photo) at their own risk or not. Unfortunately, as the gate could have been bypassed at this smoothness, it occurred to me later when I was back in the car: Under the gate (which has about 20 to 25 cm of game on the right side opposite the Angel, and thus offers little grip) is a gap of 3 to 4 cm height. Under the gap you pull a sweater or other textile, in such a way that the lower part of the sweater comes to the right of the gate post, and the upper left of it. When you step on the sweater, it squeezes into the holes of the lattice rust and thus provides the necessary slip resistance. First you bring one leg to the left side, then both, then the left over the parapet ...

  • Nice hiking place. You have a lot to see. If you really like hiking take the yellow/white route, it's much nicer than the res one. Also after you reach the top they have a zip-line all the way down, so you can try that if you to have some fun and don't want to walk down. The price is 90RON(aprox. 20E).
  • Great hike but the canyon was closed (April) due to a rock fall and no warning was posted. The zipline was also closed although the weather was fine.
  • The canyon was closed unfortunately (April 26th), but the hiking to the canyon in the white and yellow route was nice and not too difficult (even for 6 years old).
  • IT'S CLOSED. The hike to the canyon is nice, but the canyon is closed because of rock fall (April 2019)
  • The hike to the canyon from the village is about an hour, but it's pretty. There are two primary hiking routes. The red one is easier and the yellow/white one is harder but they both go essentially the same way. The canyon itself was unfortunately closed due to rock falls, which was a bummer. There's no indication anywhere when it's open or closed so it's a bit of a gamble. Probably better luck in the summer. The ranger at the entrance spoke only Romanian but he was very patient and eventually he got me to understand that the canyon was closed with lots of gestures.
