Unirii Square, Timisoara

(4.4/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
Named for the sight of the Roman Catholic and the Serbian Orthodox temples facing each other, Unirii Square reflects the city's tolerant spirit. In the past, the square hosted religious ceremonies and military parades; today it serves as a stage for cultural events. The area's most notable buildings include the palace of the former prefecture, the bishop's residence executed in the "national Serbian" style, and the Viennese Baroque palace that houses an art collection. Notice the Baroque Statue of the Trinity, depicting the plague, famine, and war, in the middle of the square. The square also features an 18th-century fountain that once supplied the city with drinking water. • You may spend here few pleasant hours especially during the summer time: there a lot of terraces, a huge pedestrian area, the modern art museum of Timisoara hosted by Baroc Palais, a lot of restaurant...  more »
  • A huge, huge proportions square ... surrounded by ancient buildings, many being restored. to see absolutely.

  • Then: I don't doubt the historical value of the square is huge and we overlook the Church of San Giorgio, the Art Museum and the Serbian Orthodox Church. Has a sculpture in the Center and then ... nothing. Absolute nothingness. I don't at all like (and there were others in the same way).

  • Nice historical place with a great view of Saint Michael Cathedral. Nearby you can visit the Museum of Pharmacy . Multiple live events take place here during the year and I really like that this place gives you a lot of things to discover. Enjoy!!
