Timisoara Orthodox Cathedral, Timisoara
(4.7/5 based on 340+ reviews on the web)
Timisoara Orthodox Cathedral features 11 towers and seven bells, which can be heard throughout the town due to the unusual resonance of their sound. The cathedral was built in the late 1930s in the eclectic neo-Moldavian style, which combines Byzantine, Gothic, Ottoman, and Renaissance elements. Inside, notice the fragments of the 18th-century altar, executed in the Baroque style. The basement houses collections of religious objects, including rare books, icons, and paintings. Search for bullet marks on the steps in front of the cathedral, which are part of the story of the people's revolution that started in Timisoara. • Certainly the effort! Also beautiful park behind the Cathedral. Beautiful songs are sung during the prayers.

  • Beyond the story behind this Church (and behind his staircase) is a delight every time you look at it. Besides entering and going straight at the bottom on the right is a door. Becoming on the right there is another door with a Bell, to call the nun who accompanies you to the basement to visit the Cathedral Museum which is not advertised but beautiful. Among other things, his (English-speaking) is very nice and a courtesy only.

  • Wonderful Orthodox cathedral located in Timișoara's city centre. It really deserves a visit. The interior is splendid.
