Timisoara art museum has since 2006 been decorated in the beautiful baroque palace on Piata Unirii, oldest and most impressive building that has a past as the administration building for both Government and military. As it applies to many art museums, it is also here that the collection is made up of private donations. The Museum's collection of European art is largely due to the passionate art collector and cultural personality Ormos Zsigmond (1813-1894) who in 1872 had established the first art museum Timisoara. Zsigmonds collection of paintings is the collection's core, which has been extended up through 1900-century contemporaries, with works by Romanian artists, some of which are represented with a number of works. Very special is the collection of photos of Corneliu Baba (1906 – 1997), which in its dark paintings takes over where Rembrandt, El Greco and Goya stops, but still paint on its own recognizable way. The large collection of Baba's works is largely due to testamentary placing from Corneliu Baba's widow Constanţa Baba. Among the other Romanian artists meetings to names such as: Nicolae Popescu, Ion Zaicu, Theodor Aman, Gheorghe Tăttărescu, Sava Henţia, Nicolae Grigorescu, Ștefan Popescu, Ștefan Luchian, Theodor Pallady, Gheorghe Petrașcu, Max Herman Maxy, Jean Alexandru Steriadi, Ion Theodorescu-Sion, Iosif Iser, Camil Ressu, Elena Șirato, Nicolae Tonitza, Francisc Popea, Octav Băncilă, Ștefan Dimitrescu, Nicolae Dărăscu, Samuel Mützner, Rudolf Schweitzer-Cumpăna, Alexandru Ciucurencu ogIon Țuculescu , Mention must also the beautiful collection of around 40 icons, most of which comes from anonymous artists ' workshops in Banat. An employee of Timisoara tourist information said that "it takes about an hour to see the Art Museum". In an hour you can reach walking through the halls and look more closely at individual stations. You will see the entire collection properly, one must devote three hours. Are you interested in art, is the visit to the village de Arta reason enough to come to Timisoara.

The Art Museum of Timisoara is located in the so called Palatul Barok, which used to be an administrative building during the time when Timisoara belonged to the Austrian Empire. The fully renovated building is hosting high level Art Exhibitions. The Museum is well managed and is a must visiting point for any tourist coming to Timisoara, regardless if a special event is available or not.

Price too high for what it offers. Very disappointed with a so-called photography exhibit of a jazz festival: photos of 2 lions, made in black and white and placed on the walls. I appreciated more than wooden doors was exhibited there.
