Probably not the most beautiful Museum in Romania (for me, that Sibiu is more interesting), but it is all the same to see if you stay a few days in Timisoara. Access is possible by urban bus.

The museum is situated in a quiet area, towards the eastern edge of town. It's next to a small forest (Pădurea Verde) and the City Zoo. You should pick a sunny day for your visit and allocate 2-3 hour...  more »

Village Museum just outside of Timisoara is a great experience. The Museum opened in 1971 and has since then been added more houses. A total of 31 houses and a church are included in the collection. The vast majority of houses are open, and you can look inside and see the finely decorated room, full of period furniture and objects. It is as if the residents simply have left their house for a moment and come back just for a bit. I reached sorry not to see the last houses and the Church, before the bus line 46 drove back, but it was a very hot day in July, after only an hour and a half in the village Museum Bănățean I not managing to walk around more. Bus line 46 runs, as I have said out here, taking it from Bastionul Theresia. Ticket must be purchased in advance in a kiosk somewhere else. Have you taken out here in order to view the village Museum Bănățean it is natural also to visit the Zoo, which is located a few hundred meters away. On the way there we pass the large "Monumentul Rezistenței Anticomuniste din Banat" a monument in honor of those who were killed 1949 – 1952 in their opposition to communism. There are several restaurants out here, and we can thus get a nice day in the area.

  • A very beautiful place where you can get to know how villages in Romania looked like. It is also very relaxing so I really recommend it !
  • It is a nice place, a lot of trees and green spaces but it lacks a good management of the houses. A lot of them are always closed even though it appears that the interior is populated with objects. There is also a lake with a watchtower which was closed and couldn't access it.
  • Quiet area, a lot of trees and 'pleava'. Cute ancient houses, a little church, an event zone with a pond. Time to spare: max. 2h.
  • It is a recreation of how an old village was. It's interesting and nice to have a walk, but the museum itself has not much to see, since all the houses shown are quite similar. Price is fair though, just 5 Lei.
  • This is a piece of local history! You can find old fashioned houses.
