Get a window into Transylvania's Germanic history at Turnul Sfatului (The Tower of the Council), one of the city's most prominent historic buildings. Located in the heart of Old Town, the tower dates back to the 13th century, when Saxon merchants built grand fortified towns across the region. Admire the sturdy architecture of the tower, which was once part of the city's ring of defensive walls. You'll notice the stacked sections and the large clock on each side. Climb the spiral staircase to the top for a sweeping view of medieval Sibiu. • Unfortunately, the window above and therefore not as good for photos are suitable as the Tower of the Protestant Church. But still worth the climb (also not as exhausting as in the EV.) Church)

  • This was the centre piece of the historical centre of the Sibiu Square. Charming cafes all around and a wonderful place to just sit and relax and take it all in .
  • It's quite small , and if you have the opportunity don't miss it ,has a really old feeling. Maybe if you catch an exposition it's more nicer .
  • Fantastic view over Sibiu, especially on the small square (Piata Mica). Opening hours could be longer in the summer. Best pictures can be taken in winter time. (during sunset)
  • I totally recommend this place since it offers you a great view over the city. You can admire the old town, the newer part and the industrial one. Entrance price is symbolic: 2 Lei (about 50 cent)
  • Old tower situated downtown Sibiu with an interesting history. Good view over the city, unfortunately only though windows (no balcony). Very cheap visiting fee.
  • Great view from up there! It's a must see! :)
  • The Council Tower, or in Romanian "Turnul Sfatului", is one of the landmarks of the city, among the Evanghelic Cathedral. It was built during the XIII-th century in the second round of fortifications, and served as a gate tower. Then it lost its purpose, when the third round of fortifications was built. The tower is located next to the old town hall, that's why the tower was named "The Council Tower". Now, the tower hosts many expositions of art and photography, but also history expositions in partnership with Altemberger House, where the History Museum is located. On the last floor is a telescope, so you can admire specific parts of the city, but the overall panorama of Sibiu is just stunning.
