  • Very well maintained building and the surrounding area, the Fort, but indifferent from inside. In one such fortress wait to see other things besides furniture costumes and glasses. Ticket cheap 10 func but not accept euros

  • The hours are limited so plan ahead so it will be open during your visit. Well kept grounds and helpful staff. Good for a part of a day.
  • Just stopped for an hour in Fagaras in order to visit the Fortress. I was surprised, it was better than my expectations. It's interesting and beautiful, even in a rainy day. It will take more than 1 h...  more »

  • The citadel was renovated and it's well preserved. It's surrounded by a lake with swans and ducks. Interesting medieval objects on the museum , collections of traditional costumes , old documents , pictures, etc. Nice furniture on the second floor. It worth the visit if you like history. Hope to be full open sometimes ( some rooms are still close and perhaps on renovation)
  • I like the fact that this fortification is now promoted and accesible for tourists to visit. It is located în the center of the town and has an easy acces. Ticket is 15 lei for adults. It is said that despite all aggresion directed towards it, this castle has never been conquered by force. During comunism it has been used as a top security prison for some time.
  • Licated in the centre of Fagaras, a must visit place which used to be a communist jail during the formar regime. The moat exists nowadays, too. Great history and location!
  • This fortress looks nicer from exterior, as it will beautifully reflect in the lake that surrounds it. If you're lucky, you'll see even swans.
  • Cetatea Făgărașului is a beautiful citadel, located in the heart of the modern city of Făgăraș. It is surrounded by an artificial lake, which makes the place even more beautiful. You can visit the inner courtyard, between the citadel walls, but also the museum hosted by the main building. Everything is renovated and all looks great. You can find interesting pieces exhibited in the museum, with explanations in RO and EN, but I also liked the furniture and the decorations which make you feel like in the medieval times. You will also discover interesting parts of the history of the citadel or of the city. It definitely worth a visit, it is the best thing you can do in Făgăraș.
