  • We expected the fortress to be a ruin with not much to see except crumbling walls. We were surprised to find it hosts a national museum and library with items discovered in the local region and dating...  read more »
  • Our passage through Fagaras coincided with a Monday, closing day of the fortress. We had to settle for a ride to her around, anyway what a nice experience, the Citadel is beautiful and is surrounded by a lake. Perimeter has a kilometer, and a leisurely stroll not takes us more than 15 or 20 minutes. There is enough room to park our car. The rest of days open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Saturdays and Sundays from June to September closed at 4 in the afternoon). The entrance fee is 5 lei per adult, 2 lei per child and 10 lei rate photography. Can take advantage of the ride to visit the monumental Cathedral Orthodox that is located facing the fortress.

  • Great place to visit. Lots of historical artefacts. It's surrounded by a lake. You can see black swans there.
  • Impressive & beautiful in equal shares. Completely worth the trip, especially with mountains so close by.
  • "The Citadel that was never conquered." Very well preserved, at many points better than Bran Castle. It's very nice how the castel and the fortification was preserved including the surroundings and i am talking about the defense water channel surrounding the citadel. You have acces to a lot of chambers and places inside the citadel and even contains, in addition to the regular exhibits, some collections of Transylvanian Saxons folk objects. Very nice indeed.
  • A must visit place in the area!!! It's quite a clean place and full of nice people!!
  • Must see place when in the area. The " fortress that has never been conquered" was very beautifully renovated and invites everybody for a short trip through the time back in the period of knights and ladies.
