  • Visiting hours made specially to make it hard to visit (closed during weekends, opened during week mostly in the morning). Been once and an arogant old crone practically shouted at us that we CAN NOT VISIT the church because people are inside. I wonder which or what kind of people, since the saxons are all long dead and population is 99% orthodox. If this is the way they are treating potential tourists, than they better close !
  • Large fortified church, which is located in the center inhabited. Compared with fortified churches in the area is not the most impressive.
  • Sunday, May 21, 2017 14: I phoned the number displayed. The person told me that you can't visit because it's her birthday and its guests.

  • The first thing to clarify is that it must not confuse this church with the same name which is located close to Brasov. It is located at 8 kms. Sibiu, exactly are its coordinates: 45.784827, 24.028362 or well, 45 ° 47'05 "N 24 ° 01'42 1" E x 4. Its construction dates from the 13th century on the remains of a Roman basilica. The fortification was built in the 16th century as well as a few secret passageways that allowed the population to escape the same in case of siege. Stresses in this building the so-called "Tower of bacon", aimed initially at Chapel, but later used as a warehouse for food, hence its name. Access to the Church is through a small door which is located to the right of a driving school and a post office. In it we will see a sign which indicates if the Church is closed or open; the schedule is usually 8.00 to 17.00 hours, being closed from 13.00 to 14.00 hours. In the event that the poster indicated that it is open, press the doorbell and we will attend a friendly Lady. The entry price is 7 lei (€1.50). The visit is free and we can make it to our liking. Own lady will deliver us the keys to open the Tower of the bacon, inside which we can even do a tasting of honey, jam and other products. A few metres from the Tower, there are stairs where you access a couple of rooms which displays regional costumes and other items. Next to the front door we have place to park your car free of charge. The visit of the whole can take us about 45 minutes.
