Museum of National History and Archeology, Constanta
(3.9/5 based on 160 reviews on the web)
Museum of National History and Archeology houses an impressive historical and cultural heritage dating from the Paleolithic era to contemporary times, including a rare 2nd-century sculpture of Glycon, an ancient Macedonian snake god. The massive building, erected in 1921, is itself an example of Brâncovenesc architectural style, which combines Venetian and Ottoman influences. Exhibits are arranged chronologically. On the ground floor, see the collections of gold jewelry, silver vessels, gems, cameos, ancient coins, sculptures, and vases. The rooms on the upper floors showcase icons, maps, photographs, telegrams, and personal belongings of some notable people of the early 20th century. The complex is also home to the Roman Edifice of Mosaic. • Great Museum. Small enough to see in a few hours so you don't get overwhelmed, but big enough to hold your interest. Right on Ovidius Square, easy walk from the Cathedral of St Peter and Paul.
  • We only had 20 minutes here for reasons best known only to our shearings representative! However it was an amazingly well presented museum. The exhibits were beautifully displayed and English was on a...  more »
  • What they had was nice, but we had a 3-hour+ bus ride to get there, and it wasn't worth it. We've been to better museums in much smaller towns.

  • Superb singurul muzeu adevărat care îl mai are Constanța. Pacat ca este lăsat în paragina. Piața Ovidiu este un loc superb de plimbare și mâncat.
  • Lots of history is stored inside. Many roman artrfacts including cool statues and coins
  • Very interesting museum, both for history enthusiast and not. The building is just magnificent and it's placed right in the city center
  • History, education. Nice emplyees
  • expensive, unfriendly and claustrophobic
