The Cantacuzino Castle is situated on Zamora Street in Bușteni, Romania. The building, whose construction was completed in 1911, was conducted by the architect Gregory Cerchez at the request of Prince George Grigore Cantacuzino. It is built in Neo-Romanian style; the total surface of the estate is over 3,000 square meters. The estate is surrounded by a park with paths that lead to a waterfall grotto and artisanal fountains. In the central pavilion is a collection of unique Romanian heraldry representing the families allied with the Cantacuzino family, as well as portraits of the family members.

The castle belonged to the Cantacuzino family until the forced nationalization of 1948, when it became a preventorium for the Ministry of Internal Affairs. During the communist period, the original furniture was removed and a part of the interior walls were painted over.

After 1989, the castle was returned to Cantacuzino descendants, who sold it to private investors in 2004.

The castle underwent restoration work and today it is open to the public.

  • Few rooms, no attractions, no furniture. Only one room with some wall paintings. Price was high for what it had to offer. Not much to see inside.  more »

  • Stay outside, is nicer then inside! There is not much to see inside the Castel, you can only enjoy the view from the balcony , anything else inside is nothing to see . We do like more out. Beautiful garden beautiful view to the city ! Love Romania ✌🏽♥️
  • Quality venue. Lovely grounds, in mountain air with sunshine, nothing much better. Onion soup delicious and staff very friendly. Definitely worth a visit, just for the view of the mountains opposite.
  • Excellent restaurant. Food and presentation are on par with what you'd expect from a nice place in any Western capital. A couple of items on the menu weren't available but there's plenty to choose from. The location and decor are unique and add to the overall experience. Definitely worth a visit.
  • Nice guided tour included in the entrance price. If you decide to visit the gallery you also have a guide to walk you through the numerous paintings. Very well maintained castle yet with no furniture. Very nice garden and tempting restaurant at the entrance. Overall you should definitely visit.
  • Very knowledgeable guide tour and the experience was fantastic. The castle interior was very nice. They've succeeded to keep some of the old furniture, paintings and several old elements. However the arts to decor the garden are not my kind and actually a bit weird. Not all of the, just some of them.
