Garden Nature / Park
At The Botanical Garden (Gradina Botanica), stroll among Chinese, Japanese, and Mongolian pine trees, through herb and rose gardens, and along the shores of a lily pond with a waterfall. The garden is home to more than 10,000 species of plants, divided into three major areas. You'll see hill conifers, decorative and rare Mediterranean plants, and floral species from the Carpathian Mountains. The greenhouses of the central pavilion house palms, philodendrons, orchids, tropical succulents, and cacti, as well as subtropical and water plants. A Brâncovenesc-style building near the entrance gate features a botanical museum with a collection of 1,000 exotic plants dried, pressed, or preserved in alcohol or formaldehyde. Where to stay in Bucharest

To take advantage of Bucharest's lively downtown, look for accommodations in the areas of Universitatii square, Unirii, Romana, or Victoriei to be closest to bars, clubs, and restaurants, as well as many of the major sights. Choose from a variety of hostels and budget hotels, or book a night at one of the mid-range or luxury hotels. If you decide to venture farther out of the city, look for lodging close to public transportation to avoid the city's notoriously bad traffic.

  • Not especially exquisite, but there is something about it that lures people in. It is quiet and there's a nice smell going on there, especially in the spring. The small variety of plants can get to you though. Pretty disappointing from that perspective.
  • It's a lovely place to spend some hours relaxing, observing various plants and trees. However, compared to other botanical gardens, this one pales. I recommend visiting it for the calm and serenity it brings in the middle of the chaotic Bucharest, but do not go with high expectations. The entrance fee is ridiculously small
  • An oasis of green in the middle of Bucharest. Check out the roses in second part of May (in the center of the park), the exotic plants greenhouse and stroll around the lake.
  • A lovely nature place in the middle of a too polluted city. They have now close to the aqua fall a gift shop with great items to buy, usually made by hand.
  • Nice and quiet, good for relaxing. Could be better taken care of.
