The Botanical Garden (Gradina Botanica), Bucharest
Categories: Gardens, Nature & Parks
At The Botanical Garden (Gradina Botanica), stroll among Chinese, Japanese, and Mongolian pine trees, through herb and rose gardens, and along the shores of a lily pond with a waterfall. The garden is home to more than 10,000 species of plants, divided into three major areas. You'll see hill conifers, decorative and rare Mediterranean plants, and floral species from the Carpathian Mountains. The greenhouses of the central pavilion house palms, philodendrons, orchids, tropical succulents, and cacti, as well as subtropical and water plants. A Brâncovenesc-style building near the entrance gate features a botanical museum with a collection of 1,000 exotic plants dried, pressed, or preserved in alcohol or formaldehyde. Nice walk, but little tt see and do in the mont of october. Probably a better destination during spring and summer.
A great place to spend those summer weekend afternoons. I just hope they are going to improve the infrastructure, the place hasn't seen any major upgrade in over 20 years. And now that venue rentals are permitted, there's no excuse for an investment!
Huge diversity of plants, nice forest and swamp recreations. Vaste areas with roses. Hard to find the entrace, ugly and noisy factory buildings nearby. The whole area could be cared better. Small access price.
So, you think you know about plants? Take a strool outdoor and enjoy the green show. I hope you will find the cactus atrium open and if so don't ignore the signs and keep your hands off :))
Really nice and quiet. Great place fir a relaxing day, picnic or reading. Nice greenhouse but the schedule if tricky.
Ideal green oasis retreat in Bucharest with many varieties of trees and plants. The ticket is very cheap and you can spend at least 2 hours getting lost around the garden and exploring.
