Peasant Museum (Muzeul Taranului Roman), Bucharest

3.5
Learn what life was like for peasants around the Romanian countryside during the last four centuries at Peasant Museum (Muzeul Taranului Roman). Housed in a red-brick building, the museum exhibits traditional dress, furniture, hand-painted Easter eggs, icons, terracotta pottery, tools, and other items. If you want to find out more about the artifacts, you can take the information panels available in English and carry them with you. In a farmer's kitchen look for a door in one corner, behind which surprises await. The museum also features complete wooden buildings, a gift shop that sells replicas of some exhibits, and a small room in the basement dedicated to the communist era. • It was beautiful. It was in renovation and we saw a little bit of it but if you like museums you just love it! I want to go again with my husband! The museum doesnt have lots of money to invest but its heritage is the most important!
  • Beautiful museum. The gift shop doubles as a gallery for genuine handmade items which instantly became our favourite souvenir shop in town!
  • Not much to see. Staff is not well prepared. The could work more on their presentation skills to connect each item more with its history and evolution. No place where to can buy a drink or something to eat. Very low public relations.
  • Closed for renovations (for another year or two, if I understood the attendant correctly). Only exhibit is a show of found photos of village life from the 50s and 60s, which is excellent, but not what we were expecting.
  • A very inspiring place for those who have grew up in the countryside. It brings me back good memories about my childhood and my grand parents.
