Where to stay in Bucharest

To take advantage of Bucharest's lively downtown, look for accommodations in the areas of Universitatii square, Unirii, Romana, or Victoriei to be closest to bars, clubs, and restaurants, as well as many of the major sights. Choose from a variety of hostels and budget hotels, or book a night at one of the mid-range or luxury hotels. If you decide to venture farther out of the city, look for lodging close to public transportation to avoid the city's notoriously bad traffic.

  • Would be 5 without this absurd airplane security scanner at the entrance
  • Cool exhibition. The location though doesn't look too great on the outside.(almost like on country side) Saw this funny thing outside.
  • Great view. Cool exhibition. Truly contemporary.
  • Check and double check current exhibitions (which may actually be in other spaces, such as Sala Dalles near Universitate) before you decide to visit MNAC. Heads up for the security measures, don't expect warm cups of tea or a comparably warm artistic experience. Most of the art exhibitions are definitely geared towards theoretical heads, critics and curators. Sadly, the complicated functionality and the issues with budgets have prevented so far the institution from having a permanent exhibition (a feature that the painter-centric MARe (Muzeul de Arta Recenta) will have soon) and such. But, until now, the MNAC is hard to ignore. If you catch several exhibitions at once and are genuinely interested in most of them, you might want to reserve more than a couple of hours from your time!
  • It's a beautiful museum with very diverse exhibitions!
