  • If you are passionate about planes is worth a visit. It's fantastic to see a part of aviation history, with numerous MiG, da so close. Made much more interesting by simulators used by the army, ejecting seats and sectioned turbines. In the courtyard there are numerous planes and helicopters. Discounted admission for students.

  • Museum which is well worth a visit, designed as an indoor area and an outside aviation charts the history of Romania. Interesting number of aircraft where are the masters national IAR and Mig. Recommended

  • In Bucharest, the capital of Romania, for fans and scholars of the aviation industry a MUST is the Aviation Museum. Accessible by public transport (tram) visiting, photographing pretty much everything or nearly so, in just under three hours. Two indoor areas, in the same building, not well lit, especially the first shed but, always the first shed, with a wonderful balcony on all four sides. There is an internal library but only open by appointment, but not any refreshments talking the usual Museum shop. Dear all staff (someone knows a few words of English). The entrance is free of charge for a fee, charged to photograph and/or film. Surveying mainly fixed-wing aircraft, Rotary, which is Romanian production (IAR) some, unfortunately not everyone even those not of Romanian manufacture, in an excellent state of preservation than the number of airplanes exposed outside! Anything other than some commercial images of aircraft and some advertising posters of some Romanian Airlines TAROM of colors as well as a template once, ROMAC 111. No problem to photograph and/or film ... except, outside, possible rain and/or snow in winter! Enjoy your visit at all so between IAR and MiG!

  • Planes are awesome. Regardless of how old they are or what types they are. The museum has a lot of USSR planes starting with MiG 17 up to MIG 29 as well as romanian planes from WW2 and post WW2 (IAR 93 is one if them). They are poorly kept though. The planes are in open air exposed to the weather and they begun to rust. You can also see anti aircraft weaponry from the communist era, helicopters and utility planes. Very disappointing that they don;t have an AN2. The interior museum is very decent and well organized. Highly recommend you to visit this underrated museum.
  • The museum closes at 18:00 durig summer, just so you know! Edit*** : it closes at 14:00 during the summer, till september
  • Very good good and comprehensive, if you manage not to be seen by a guard you can even climb into the engines of a MiG-29. In case you want to see the canopies from inside I'd advise bringing a wire cutter.
  • A strange and musty old museum, on my two visits I was the only person there, a lady came round with me and turned the lights on and off. Lots of old planes, the IAR 81 in the main hanger was the main attraction for me. Outside there is a yard full of old eastern block fighters, not well looked after, and a few anti-aircraft guns that my kids loved and climbed all over, traversing and elevating the barrels and defending Bucharest against an alien invasion!
  • Nice museum!

Where to stay in Bucharest

To take advantage of Bucharest's lively downtown, look for accommodations in the areas of Universitatii square, Unirii, Romana, or Victoriei to be closest to bars, clubs, and restaurants, as well as many of the major sights. Choose from a variety of hostels and budget hotels, or book a night at one of the mid-range or luxury hotels. If you decide to venture farther out of the city, look for lodging close to public transportation to avoid the city's notoriously bad traffic.
