Manuc's Inn (Hanul lui Manuc), Bucharest

(3.9/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
Have a drink in the courtyard of Manuc's Inn (Hanul lui Manuc), often referred to as "the last caravansary of South Eastern Europe." A wealthy Armenian grain merchant, known under his Turkish name Manuc-bei, built the inn in 1808 as a commercial complex that included living quarters, offices, stores, and a pub. Its original structure, featuring arcaded open galleries with carved wooden pillars encircling the courtyard, remains the same with the addition of a ground floor cafe. The inn is a notable historical site as it was often a venue for important political meetings. At the end of the 19th century, one of its halls served as a theater. • This is one of the oldest Inn's in Bucharest. Situated near the old town and specialising in Romanian food. In a lovely courtyard garden.  more »
  • Somehow they're always understaffed, but the food is amazing, so if you're in a bit of hurry, perhaps not the best place, otherwise, the food will be so worth it won't matter! Make sure to take "Papan...  more »

  • The courtyard is beautiful but the food quality is just normal. Vegetarian options are limited. Also local birds tend to swarm on unattended bread baskets leaving me to question the sanitation of the restaurant.
  • The courtyard and the atmosphere are good. The beer is not the cheapest and the food is rather average. During the summer days, there is also live music in the courtyard. Depending on what you are looking for, you may end up here or not. I'd say it's worth a visit.
  • The atmosphere is very nice with the old building courtyard seating and the live performance. The waitress was very friendly. With the food; I had one soup, 2 starters and a main; the soup and one starter were good, the other starter (some bone marrow plate) was atrocious and the main was decent.
  • Great ambience with a strong authentic feel to the Romanian culture food and habitat. Perfect venue for dinner with friends offering a scrumptous menu at incredible great value. To feel eat and drink Romanian style this restaurant is a must-go-to!
  • Awesome! Right in the center of Bucharest, but completely isolated from the noise, the heat and the crowd - for more than 200 years. The food is very good, with impeccable service, accompanied by quite good live Romanian Folk Music. But the greatest thing is the warm atmosphere that the restaurant offers, the drinks are the cherry on the cake (I highly recommend trying "Afinata"). If you're passing through the Old Town in Bucharest, it would be quite a pity not to try it out :)
