Nature / Park
Walk, cycle, jog, take a boat ride on the lake, or just sit in one of the quiet, shady corners of Herăstrău Park. The park was laid out in the 1930s on the lakeshore, which had been the favorite promenade for the city's rich since the late 19th century. Today you'll find numerous attractions, including an open-air village museum, a royal palace, an old-fashioned fairground, an aquarium, a summer theater, and many small pavilions hosting art exhibits. Walk its alleyways lined with roses, old trees, water fountains, and benches. As you walk, notice the park's many sculptures representing statesmen, artists, poets, and fictional characters, such as Prince Charming. Explore summer terraces on the lakeshore, visit the tennis courts, rent a bike, or stop for a bite to eat. The park also features a memorial to Michael Jackson. Make Herăstrău Park a centerpiece of your Bucharest vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Bucharest trip itinerary builder.

Where to stay in Bucharest

To take advantage of Bucharest's lively downtown, look for accommodations in the areas of Universitatii square, Unirii, Romana, or Victoriei to be closest to bars, clubs, and restaurants, as well as many of the major sights. Choose from a variety of hostels and budget hotels, or book a night at one of the mid-range or luxury hotels. If you decide to venture farther out of the city, look for lodging close to public transportation to avoid the city's notoriously bad traffic.

  • Best park in Bucharest. Many playgrounds for children, shaded paths for walking or riding, bicycle rental, best restaurants compared to any other park, nice lake with boat rental, many events year around and plenty other activities during all seasons. Close to public transportation (Metro and Bus). City security all day around, feel safe even at night By far the Best area to live around in Bucharest
  • The largest park in Bucharest and the most beautiful. Enormous lake with boats and yachts which you can take to get a ride and see the entire lake. Many many places to eat on the side of the lake and also dance clubs, especially on the side with China embassy, nightlife on that spot, elegant and stile.
  • What's not to like. Excellent, well management lake & park. Romanians need to be proud of this because few capitals have a place this safe, at any hour of the day.
  • One of the biggest parks in the city, it offers a wide range of activities: pubs & restaurants, sport and games, leisure walks and some water activities as well, such as renting a small boat to enjoy the lake. It positioned in the North of the city and has multiple access routs including the Metro. The station Aviatorilor will lead you directly to the parks edge
  • Mindfulness! An enormous park that gives you a peace of mind. Lovely people, everyone looks happy, bike rentals, boat rentals, fried fish or cotton candy and it also has a connection with the Peasant Museum.
