Biserica Stavropoleos, Bucharest

Categories: Architectural Buildings, Churches, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.7/5 based on 1,200+ reviews on the web
Biserica Stavropoleos has been compared to a jewelry box because of its small size, rich exterior, and interior choral style decoration. Observe the ornate stone and wood carvings, particularly on the church's main doors, as well as the restored 18th-century ceiling and wall paintings. As one of the city's oldest churches, the house of worship is also known for its collection of Byzantine music books, ancient texts, and sacred objects. It's the only surviving part of the original women's monastery built in 1724. Notice the collection of tombstones scattered around the courtyard surrounded by a richly ornamented colonnade with oriental arches. • Very beautiful church. Like all the churches of the time very small inside but rich in history and frescoes. The outside patio then is very impressive with tombstones and stone crosses dating back to I don't know what year. I recommend to watch

  • I passed by this church while walking on the Stavropoleos Street. Its harmonious design and beautiful ornamentations are actually eye-catching 🏛.
  • u can come and have an alfresco lunch here , no one will bother you , it's pretty chill and the church is nice as well
  • One of the most interesting monuments of Bucharest. It has a very beautiful architecture, and it is a bit of a "hidden gem" inside the city center
  • Interesting old church. It's worth stopping by if you are in the area.
  • One of my favorite churches in Bucharest (I'm not a big fan of churches). Try to peek in, but remember it's a church, not a tourist attraction. You might be lucky and catch the choir singing.
