Rope Street - Strada Sforii, Brasov

3.5
#2 of 8 in Historic Sites in Brasov
Squeeze through the corridor of Rope Street - Strada Sforii, one of the narrowest streets in Europe. First mentioned in 17th-century documents, the street was originally constructed as a connection between two other streets. The 80 m (260 ft) corridor was used for many years as a passage for firemen. Nearly every visitor can spread his arms and touch the walls, since the broadest part of the street is 132 cm (52 in) wide. Today the street is a lovers' meeting place and a favorite spot for tourists and photographers. Where to stay in Brasov

As one of the largest and most visited cities in Romania, Brasov offers a full range of accommodations, from guesthouses and budget lodging, to mid-range and premium hotels. Stay in the historical city center, close to the famous Black Church, to fully enjoy what the city has to offer and to be near to the sights. It's best to book your stay in advance. If you find yourself in need of immediate lodging, find a reputable information center and inquire--avoid solicitors that may approach you in the train station regarding accommodations. Be sure to inquire whether or not your hotel provides hot water, as this is not always a given here.
