Old Bazaar, Skopje, Skopje
(3.7/5 based on 900+ reviews on the web)
Step back in time at Old Bazaar, Skopje, the city's primary historical center of trade and a showcase of historic Ottoman architecture. Located along the Vardar River in Skopje's traditional merchant quarter, the marketplace still buzzes with commerce today. Visit the bazaar and explore the multitude of shops, cafes, and other businesses that line its street. Note the mixture of both Turkish buildings--including bathhouses, mosques, caravanserais, and a clock tower--as well as remnants of Skopje's even earlier Byzantine past. Be sure to stop into one of the many eateries in the bazaar for a bite of some classic Macedonian food, including the meaty dish known as "chevapi." Plan your visit to Old Bazaar, Skopje and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Skopje tourist route planner.

  • The old Bazaar in Skopje, which is on the other side of the bridge is like entering a completely different world. The residents of this poor part of Skopje, women with children on their knees lie on the ground and zebraja. WOMEN-bags keep your fingers in front of each other in both hands otherwise remain with empty content, and you must have the zasłoniete body (on hot days allowed is short sleeve for turystek). A place worth visiting, buying local products and eat in the restaurant.
