Learn about the movements and conflicts that helped to shape modern Macedonia at Museum of Macedonian Struggle, documenting the country's long road to independence. Opened in 2011, the museum presents a timeline of Macedonian resistance to foreign rule from its conquest by the Ottomans in the 14th century to its split from Yugoslavia. Wander the exhibitions covering different leadership figures, historic events, and the beginnings of famous resistance organizations, including the famous Haiduk rebels of the 17th century. Carry on to the final exhibit, dedicated to victims of the Yugoslav Communist dictatorship after World War II, as well as Macedonia's renewed sovereignty. Don't miss the museum's centerpiece: the original copy of the country's Declaration of Independence from 1991. • It gives a good idea of the history of the current Republic of macedonia, has quite impressive oil paintings, and loss in wax figures are very well made. The tour is guided in English and is pretty cheap. Rdcomendado

  • You may visit the Museum with a guide. Our voice unfortunately too quickly and too indistinct. Evidence suggests that he should be slower, were of little help. His knowledge was also memorized, what is showed among other things that he could hardly answer questions outside of the "program possible from". The representation of the history of Macedonia is too one-sided. We have not even understood half by the bad language of the Guide, but the core message is simple and appears to be propaganda. She could - exaggerated formulated - are about as: Macedonia was always at a disadvantage by its neighbors and treated unfairly. The country almost exclusively comprises heroes who always bravely and fiercely defended Macedonia. We would recommend only the tour others, if they are interested to see some wax figures. If you would like to learn about the city of Skopje, you'd better go in the free Museum in the former station building. The exhibition there is focusing while on the earthquake in 1963, however, we had the good fortune to meet a guide which has wiklich idea!
