Learn about the movements and conflicts that helped to shape modern Macedonia at Museum of Macedonian Struggle, documenting the country's long road to independence. Opened in 2011, the museum presents a timeline of Macedonian resistance to foreign rule from its conquest by the Ottomans in the 14th century to its split from Yugoslavia. Wander the exhibitions covering different leadership figures, historic events, and the beginnings of famous resistance organizations, including the famous Haiduk rebels of the 17th century. • Visited here as we couldn't get in to the holocaust museum and glad we did. We had to be led by a tour guide for the 40 minute tour (which lasted two hours) but that made it much better. The guide (Pe...  more »
  • Think that much is about the guide to be assigned. Understand it after reading previous reviews. We were lucky enough to get a guide who, at least initially. The Macedonian people have for centuries struggled to be able to form their own State and of their freedom. First against the Ottoman Empire against the Greeks, Serbs and Bulgarians, and the international community at large. Everything depicted in this museum. Many heroes and many victims. Arrest and to get an understanding of how difficult it has been for this nation's creation.

  • Perhaps they changed the format of this museum or it is still being worked out.. either way, in its current form, it is not very educational. You are required to have a guide who will speak very quick...  more »

  • Interesting experience; I loved the fact that you actually have a guide that talks to you through the struggle. There are a lot of wax figures representing important people that marked the Macedonian uprising. Not to be confused with the Museum of Macedonia, which is located after the Old Bazar, next to the Mosque.
  • It's empty it's not a museum. Macedonia it's Greek come to Vergina and Pella to see the real Macedonia.
  • Must see museium...get to know the macedonian struggle thre the years.
  • This newly built museum with wax figures presents the history of Macedonian people and their struggle through difficult times.
  • They have private tours for everyone that buys a ticket, and the guy didn't stop talking, explained every single thing. Thumbs up!
