Macedonia Square, Skopje
(3.7/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
Take a stroll around Macedonia Square, the largest plaza in the country and one of the capital city's primary meeting places and public areas. Though surrounded by communist-style buildings, the square has undergone intensive government renovation in order to transform it into a modern and inviting space. Walk around the square, taking in the nearby mountain scenery. Pass by the numerous monuments that dot the plaza, including those honoring Roman emperor Justinian, Tsar Samuel, and several groups of Macedonian revolutionary figures. Be sure to get up close to the towering statue of a sword-bearing warrior on horseback, controversially said to represent Alexander the Great. Put Macedonia Square into our Skopje vacation builder to see other points of interest to visit during your vacation in Skopje.

  • great place in the purest style "Soviet" of the 1960s, not very nice it must be said. But we have to go through it to go to the Bazaar...

  • Macedonia square, the magnificent. The sculptures are symbols everywhere. City out of the hands of an artist like a challenge. A place where a lot of photo çekilesi

  • Do you like statues? Who doesn't? You could take so many selfies here. There are hundreds of opportunities for selfies! With so many statues just begging you to take a selfie with it, the Center of Skopje is probably selfie heaven.
  • Very interesting place. Lots of different influences and architectural styles that do not necessarily work all that well together, but it is still a unique place that seems maybe a bit surreal.
  • So bohemian city! Truly astonish! Absolute beauty.
  • Very recently built European style city center. Not liked too much by locals, but still a nice atmosphere
  • The city is trying to update things a bit and build a few more visitor-friendly attractions. There is a debate about the plan amoung locals, but, as a visitor, it was a pretty area with reasonably priced food.
