Climb the hilltop to explore , which watches over the nearby lake and also serves as one of Ohrid's most recognizable symbols. Built upon the foundations of a fortress dating from the 4th century BCE, the structure has undergone a multitude of renovations and revitalizations since. Hike your way up to the top of the castle hill and admire the work of its imposing stone walls. Enter the fortress and explore the interior; though it's unrestored within, you can get a good sense of the layout. Be sure to climb atop the ramparts for a sweeping view of Lake Ohrid, the town, and the surrounding mountainous landscape.
