Perched on the rocky shoreline of Lake Ohrid right next to the Albanian border, Monastery of Saint Naum stands as one of the oldest complexes of its kind in the region. Originally constructed in the 10th century, the monastery has served several purposes during its history. Visit the complex and admire its wealth of religious artwork within, including several notable 18th-century wooden icons. You'll find a wide array of both Slavic and Greek frescoes adorning the walls as well. Be sure to stop by the grave of Saint Naum himself; it's rumored that you can still hear his heartbeat through the stone.
