Categories: Bodies of Water, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.5/5 based on 30+ reviews on the web
Set within the peaceful landscape of a national park, Mavrovo Lake provides a prime spot for walking, fishing, boating, and swimming. The largest artificial lake in Macedonia is surrounded by chains of mountain ridges, snowcapped peaks, and wide green highlands. Notice the church in the middle of the lake, half-submerged in the water, which was flooded when the manmade lake was built to supply a power plant. The waters are rich with trout, which you can order off the menu from many hotels, villas, and restaurants nearby. • The water was really clear and inviting, but it was really cold! The beaches looked a little left to themselves, but still cute. The place is accessible by one road, but full of restaurants and cottages. In winter you go to ski and they told me that there are plenty of people who enjoy the beauty of the place. From there again definitely.

  • Skopje-Dalton road, stunning views over the Lake. Nearby is a small village and have around recreational facilities. Facilities a bit neglected but breathe fresh air and views of the Lake to get a drink I suggest you drop in..
