Get a glimpse into military history at Al-Zubara Fort, part of a World Heritage Site that includes a Gulf merchant town. Within the town's ruins, the fort has stood since 1938 when Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani built it as a Coast Guard station. Now a museum, the space shows the architectural techniques of Qatar alongside artworks and archeological exhibits. Visit the still impenetrable fort and take shelter from the sun under the roof where soldiers would gather to patrol the coast. Take a peek into their lives by exploring the fort on your own. Using our international travel planner, Madinat Ash Shamal attractions like Al-Zubara Fort can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • To go from Doha to Al Zubarah fort he takes an hour thirty in a landscape flat and near typical of the peninsula qatari. At the end of the journey a pretty strong that access for free. The visit is fast (30' max) and there is nothing around. the excavations are not open to the public. A tip: allow food or cool off because there is no restoration of place and surroundings. See out of curiosity.

  • Went to visit world heritage from Doha arrived in a taxi this Fort in 1 hour and a half, have been waiting for 20 minutes, I had back in Doha (total 250 real) from bad cospa. Small Fort has a small museum, even I'm empty inside the Fort. Is recommended to people who find the value to just go to world heritage sites, World Heritage sites is like!
