Souq Waqif, Doha

4.4
#1 of 108 in Things to do in Qatar
Founded at the turn of the 20th century in a dried riverbed where Bedouin Arabs once traded wares, Souq Waqif remains a major marketplace providing access to a range of local goods. Frequented by locals and visitors, the market offers traditional clothing, handcrafted items, spices, and souvenirs, hosting many restaurants, cafes, and shisha lounges that serve Qatari, Yemeni, Syrian, and various other Middle Eastern cuisines. Check out the parts of the souq where domestic pets, like dogs, cats, turtles, and birds are sold, in addition to an area devoted to falcons and falconers. Large, well stocked, it's still a little different than those visited in Istanbul or Marrakesh. For the warm the goods are rarely exhibited outside shops. but they are all in and the stores closed door curtain hanno.la. plastic or. in order not to lose the air conditioning. This compromises a little in my opinion. chance to drool over. the stalls but in any case in the market!!

What a fantastic place to visit! Food available is out of this world. Name the cuisine and you get it. Love the architecture.

I love the Souq. The hassle and bustle is so unique. Shops offer a wide range of traditional and not so traditional goods. From fabric to sweets.

A mixture of tourist and local attractions for shopping and dining, this is a recreation if the original Souk Wakif, the social and retail centre of Doha. It is easy to get lost in n the winding corridors send alleyways while admiring the many wares on display. Outside dining or coffee is popular when the temperature moderates. A must see while visiting Doha.
