Souq Waqif, Doha

(4.4/5 based on 4,600+ reviews on the web)
Founded at the turn of the 20th century in a dried riverbed where Bedouin Arabs once traded wares, Souq Waqif remains a major marketplace providing access to a range of local goods. Frequented by locals and visitors, the market offers traditional clothing, handcrafted items, spices, and souvenirs, hosting many restaurants, cafes, and shisha lounges that serve Qatari, Yemeni, Syrian, and various other Middle Eastern cuisines. Check out the parts of the souq where domestic pets, like dogs, cats, turtles, and birds are sold, in addition to an area devoted to falcons and falconers. • While Al-Ghanim bus station on the Moon in Doha that most tourist destinations as stopped. A 5 minutes walk. Can rest or if even that stiff old-fashioned small stores and trendy terrace café, souvenir, tourist attraction was.

  • Qatar airlines layover between participated in the free city sightseeing tours. Crowded evening usually virtually no shops are open during the Muslim Ramadan was to enjoy the atmosphere. Cafes and restaurants are few, were open. In the Souk (market), souvenirs of Qatar and the Middle East in general there.

  • A newly built location tries to display the souks, which also nice was successful. A masses small shops in small alleys with spices, clothing, ... and the animals. Have visited during the day, indeed gave a quiet impression with various closed shops. Could because of cruise (departure 6 pm) unfortunately not visit.

  • It's a classic unique and awesome place with many attraction's daily... So go ahead with your family and friends and have a good day
  • Souq Waqif is a great place to sit down, have coffee/tea and enjoy a nice evening with friends and family. The souq is clean and well kept. It is quite new, so if you are looking for history I would say that this is just a beautiful remake. In terms of places to eat try Demasca, there is also a good Iranian restaurant but the service is a bit slow. For shopping I would suggest scarves as souvenirs, everything else is pretty over priced. It would be hard to find things that are really authentic even most of the ceramics. If you are interested in something bargain. Be warned that this is not like traditional souqs and they may not lower the prices as much as other places.
  • I loved the style of the place. It's really authentic. There are a lot of small shops and restaurants. The place can get really hot and humid so seek the area when the weather is cool and nice. You will find the area full of people smoking "hubbly bubbly" outside the restaurants and cafes so keep that in mind if you don't like that.
  • It's largest souq#myqatar to buying all things that you need ... place old Qatar... great entertainment... more people were coming please
  • Authentic Qatari experience. The gold market, antique shops & amazing restaurants and cafes
