Museum of Islamic Art, Doha

4.6
#1 of 9 in Museums in Qatar
From the impressive collections to the awe-inspiring architecture by I.M. Pei, visitors to Museum of Islamic Art have plenty to look at. The building resembles a pile of boxes inspired by Islamic architecture, surrounded by gardens and paths offering views of the bay and Doha's skyline. The museum's collection includes samples of 1,400 years of jewelry, calligraphy, woodwork, textiles, metalwork, and manuscripts from all over the Islamic world. Within the museum, you'll find a library, gift shop, open prayer rooms, and a restaurant serving French-Mediterranean cuisine. • The beautiful building is interesting in itself, on the water. In the middle of the accumulated considerable collections over the 13th-19th century worth 1.5-2 hours to visit

  • It is combination of very large amount of historical goods , many Islamic arts, before 1000 years many hand written Islamic books, used house hold materials, many weapons (knife, sword, armored dress) used in war , it is multi storied well furnished and well designed building here many restaurants , toilets, drinking water, rest rooms are available for visitors, also very nice several water fountain in front and inside of Museum. from this museum you can see the Doha city and beauty of sea.
  • This place is beautiful inside and out! Make sure you time your visit to take at least two hours to quickly see everything. It was free to visit and closed at 7 pm on a Saturday. We managed to overlap our visit with the sunset which was beautiful to watch from the outer fountain area. The waterfront becomes cold once the sun is down, so dress accordingly. We took the local bus to get there from airport. Bus 777 and it was 50 Riyal for two riders for 24 hour unlimited rides.
  • Building architecture is exquisite... Outside platform also has a nice view... If you visit it at night. You can see the colourful lightning boats sailing on around. Beautiful fountains at the entrance will force to take a selfi. Total four floors are there in the building. Inside the building, a fire ring (looks like "fire ring" at night) is hanging.
  • It was a amazing experience to see the Islamic musuem in Qatar. It's a must see for every one who is in Qatar or on a visit to Qatar. the entry is free. And the collection is huge. The staff is very polite and professional. Of all the museum s I have seen its one of the best. It contains some very interesting and rare things of the Islamic people.
  • One of the best museum I have visited. Wonderful entrance... Which is beautifully and nicely architect. All articles are presented nicely... Given detailed description for each one. There are many articles from India. Food court also available.
