#1 of 10 in Museums in Qatar
From the impressive collections to the awe-inspiring architecture by I.M. Pei, visitors to Museum of Islamic Art have plenty to look at. The building resembles a pile of boxes inspired by Islamic architecture, surrounded by gardens and paths offering views of the bay and Doha's skyline. The museum's collection includes samples of 1,400 years of jewelry, calligraphy, woodwork, textiles, metalwork, and manuscripts from all over the Islamic world. Within the museum, you'll find a library, gift shop, open prayer rooms, and a restaurant serving French-Mediterranean cuisine. • We enjoyed the walk here past the harbor and all the dhows. On entry to the building one can only be impressed by the atrium. After our Thursday walk we were delighted to see the café by the entrance ...  more »
  • A boxy-lookking building sitting in a beautiful park on the waterfront directly across the Doha diplomatic/business district. Expansive and beautifully done, in a post-modern kind of way. Beautiful vi...  more »
  • If you have the time it is well worth the visit, the building is great by itself. The museum has a variety of items albeit somewhat limited but interesting enough.  more »

  • It is combination of very large amount of historical goods , many Islamic arts, before 1000 years many hand written Islamic books, used house hold materials, many weapons (knife, sword, armored dress) used in war , it is multi storied well furnished and well designed building here many restaurants , toilets, drinking water, rest rooms are available for visitors, also very nice several water fountain in front and inside of Museum. from this museum you can see the Doha city and beauty of sea.
  • Absolutely gorgeous. Try to get there before the weaponry and armour exhibit ends if you can. The permanent exhibits are great as well. Make sure to go out onto the terrace for a fantastic view of the Doha skyline.
  • A must-visit place in Doha. The location is great, the museum is full of historical stuff related to Islamic arts. They allow photography (without flash) and the staff is very cooperative in providing all the related information. Very calm environment. Great views from the outside whuch makes it a perfect place for some nice walk.
  • Of course many passengers use this museum as a part of their layover in DOH but I would definitely recommend it when you stay longer. The architecture is awesome. It even started when you walk up the small hill with Doha´s skyline in the back. Entrance is free. I loved the arrangement of so different pieces of history and art. The entrance hall is a museum of itself.
