Parque de las Palomas, San Juan

4.2
#6 of 19 in Parks in San Juan
Bird lovers appreciate Parque de las Palomas, a picturesque park where a variety of pigeons are known to gather. The park attracts pigeons of all colors, shapes, and sizes, often in large groups. Unlike with some other parks, here you’re encouraged to feed the birds. You can buy some feed from one of the local vendors in the vicinity. While there, pay attention to the park’s trees--many are worth examining because of their twisted trunks and unusual shape. • One of the corners more romantic and beautiful in the old San Juan also has a beautiful panoramic view of the city.

  • All though the experience was unique. We weren't allowed to use the whole park basically we entered the gate, feed the birds and had to go. But we enjoyed it and was an amazing experience to have all those dove on us. Should have restrooms, so you can wash of after feeding them.
  • We had a great time feeding the birds here! We brought our own cereal, but there are vendors with resealable baggies of seeds (for the birds) and cold waters (for you!). Be careful with young ones - the birds may frighten them when baggies are opened prematurely and spills inevitably occur. They will land on you if you let them, but the vendors nearby were helping the young ones navigate by kicking their feet forward as they walk - an excellent strategy to avoid stepping on the birds who will come VERY close to you!
  • Beautiful park, great for families with small children. Sundays are especially busy with lots of activities and fairs for everyone to enjoy.
  • My children liked feeding the pigeons. Food can be purchased for $1 from a local vendor at the entrance of the park.
  • Lots of pigeons! Perfect place for kids to feed hundreds of pigeons. You can buy corn at the entrance of the park to feed the pigeons. Great views of San Juan Bay.
