History Museum
Pay a visit to one of the oldest churches in the Americas, Cathedral of San Juan Bautista. Constructed in the early 16th century, the building was restored numerous times over the centuries. The small but charming building features a 19th-century Neoclassical facade, but its main claim to fame is the tomb of Juan Ponce de Leon, Spanish explorer, conquistador, and the first governor of Puerto Rico. • Beautiful church. All donations go to upkeep of the property. Free entrance.
  • We went to the Visitor's Center first, then walked along the bay next to the wall that is about 60 feet tall and about 20 feet thick. Walked past a park and entered the city through the only city gate that is left out of 6 gates. The gates were used or were closed to protect the city when Puerto Rico was being attacked by pirates and other countries. From the gate we followed the gorgeous blue cobblestone street up to the cathedral. It was a beautiful site and sight!
  • Lovely cathedral which also is the home of the tomb of Ponce de Leon. Went to 9am mass and was treated to seeing a Quinceañera ceremony as part of the mass for some beautiful girls. The mass was in Spanish but the priest gave part of his homily in English. Everyone was very friendly and there were plenty of tourists. A must see in Old San Juan.
  • A must see location that has relatively few people and no need to spend a ton of time.
  • This church is one of the most important here in PR. Over here Marc Anthony got married once, so this is like a "Must Stop" for tourists.
