Feel the history at Castillo de San Cristobal, built in the 18th century to defend the city of San Juan from potential land attacks. Part of a World Heritage Site, the castle/fort treats you to stellar views of Puerto Rico's coastline and the city's harbor. Walk through the old tunnels, check out the dark dungeons, and explore the castle courtyards, imagining what it must have been like to serve as one of the fort's soldiers. • Amazing place to visit and see the city. Only a $5 entry fee for an all day ticket to see the historic fort with the humongously thick walls. Several places along the wall and above in a tower allow excellent views of the coast and the city. Be prepared to walk some steep inclines to get to the different levels. Shops and rest rooms are also available inside. Ride from the airport on the t-5 bus for only 75 cents and about 80 minutes or $25 for cab. Free trolley for touring the area.
  • I personally prefer San Felipe del Morro Fortress over this fort. Both forts have the same historical information. The view from here is pretty awesome. Great place for families to visit while in San Juan. Only $5 for this fort and the San Felipe fort. Just hold onto your receipt!
  • Amazing fort! Expect to take nearly 3 hours to see everything and take pictures. Bring tennis shoes and water. Only $5 entry fee for the fort that also gets you entry into the sister fort El Morro.
  • Really cool Fort. A friend of mine for married here at night, it was neat being able to go when normally closed. Awesome ocean views.
  • Many and varied structures, good interpretive displays, cool tunnels, great views of old San juan, parking garage close by.
