Navio Beach, Isla de Vieques

Beach · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
Ride the gentle waves and explore the nearby caves of Navio Beach. This secluded beach offers a serene atmosphere with white sand and clear blue waters. Palm trees and sea grape plants line the beachfront, and cliffs enclose the beach on either side. The offshore break offers moderate waves that work for beginning surfers and boogie boarders. Venture out around the cliffs to find hidden caves and climb the rock faces to jump into the water. Navio Beach can be accessed through the entrance of Sun Bay Beach; be aware that there are no lifeguards on duty here. • This beach is accessible down a rough dirt road with lots a thorn filled branches that swipe at the sides of a vehicle. Parking maxed out at about six cars. The beach has nice white sand, clear water....  more »
  • This is a rough ride but a great beach. The waves were too rough when we were there to snorkel but it’s really beautiful.  more »
  • I had been to Navío 5 times 2009-2015 and loved it. But this year it is loaded with seaweed, which is a big bummer. Not just the shore but the water too. The road is better than it used to be, but...  more »
  • I highly recommend visiting Navio while in Vieques. However, be prepared as it is off the main roads and has no running water or cantinas. You'll need to pack drinks and snacks as well as be aware that the waves are somewhat larger here than at Media Luna and Sun Bay beaches. Not much shade is available either so pack a beach umbrella if you plan on staying a while. It is very beautiful. The water was too hazy for snorkeling while we were there but you could find clearer spots down by the rock cliffs.
  • Navio Beach isn't easy to get there but worth every mile!
  • So much fun here. We were visiting family that just moved here. Coming back with the kids!!!
  • Secluded beach - you can walk around the rock outcropping on the left side of the beach to a natural bridge
  • Best beach for body surfing on Vieques. The rough road access (large potholes mean vehicles with good ground clearance are highly suggested) means it's usually almost private. Not unusual to have 10-15 people on the whole beach. Maria knocked out a lot of the big shade palms, unfortunately, but it's still one of the two most beautiful beaches..and Vieques has stiff competition in that category.
