Cemetery Historic Site
Those interested in Puerto Rico's ancient indigenous history should not miss Tibes Indian Ceremonial Center, one of the most important archaeological excavation sites in the Caribbean. A hurricane in 1975 washed away some top soil, revealing an abundance of pre-Taino, Taino, and Igneri artifacts. Visit the center and view these objects, alongside the ruins and remnants. The museum also offers detailed and extensive information about these civilizations dating back to 25 CE. Add Tibes Indian Ceremonial Center to your Ponce travel itinerary, and discover new vacation ideas by using our Ponce holiday planner.

  • Not an amusement park this is a fascinating site if you are truly into history and archaeology. Glad it has been preserved but hope government continues to support it.  more »

  • I'm very disappointed. I planned our family's visit based on information online. Their website doesn't indicate their hours of operation and we got no answer by phone, so we based our visit based on resources online. They turned out to be closed for the day altogether. The four-hour round-trip ended up costing us precious time from our vacation. This could easily have been avoided by including on their site or simply having a voicemail message indicating they would be closed. In the meantime, my suggestion is to call before your visit. Hopefully they'll answer the phone for you.
  • Great place to learn about the history of the natives
  • Pretty cool, horrible customer service, which killed the experience.
  • Nice historical place to visit with friends and family, even with a school group.
  • beautiful historical sites
