Tibes Indian Ceremonial Center, Ponce
(3.9/5 based on 140+ reviews on the web)
Those interested in Puerto Rico's ancient indigenous history should not miss Tibes Indian Ceremonial Center, one of the most important archaeological excavation sites in the Caribbean. A hurricane in 1975 washed away some top soil, revealing an abundance of pre-Taino, Taino, and Igneri artifacts. Visit the center and view these objects, alongside the ruins and remnants. The museum also offers detailed and extensive information about these civilizations dating back to 25 CE. • I love Puerto Rico and in this my third time on the island have visited this place. It really is a great place to learn about origins and its Museum is very interesting, but really my disappointment comes from the side that I think that the Government should support more such places as important. To it input us received someone that nor us claimed arguing that it did to the go us (us went and never us claimed), in us received a guide that us put a video and then disappeared leaving us waiting for by half hour for do it visit guided to the Park. Finally decided to go it alone (I had the luck that my friend Chris Ribot - NoBullTours - was telling me interesting facts of the place) and then she appeared almost to the end with a girl dressed in batuva to take photos. All very disorganized and careless. I hope the Government take care of this place qye if I had a good service would be fantastic.

  • Good cultural place.
  • Nice historical place to visit with friends and family, even with a school group.
  • Learn more about our history
  • Grass was too high.
  • The Centre as such is very nice, a very peaceful place. My family is half Puerto Rican and the purpose of the visit was teach them their estate Aboriginal, however was very sad to the get to the place that us report that only have a guide (very trained for the tour) but that works only half time and that to it a pm is was leaving to all them visitors that arrived in the afternoon without the tour. Note a couple of extremely boring Americans walking the area why obviously does not understand anything of what was there without a guide, the stamp of the hut was careless falling down all the walls of the same, the baths with an extremely unpleasant smell. The Museum is very good care. You give 3 star by that the place it have neglected a little, but is an area beautiful full of nature
