Categories: Farms, Historic Sites, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.6/5 based on 160+ reviews on the web
Wake up to not only smell the coffee beans, but also learn the history of how they were produced, at Hacienda Buena Vista. One of Puerto Rico’s best remaining examples of a 19th-century coffee plantation, the site was established in 1833 and stretches across 33.1 ha (81.8 ac) of fertile land, including a subtropical forest. Take a tour of the plantation, fully refurbished and in complete working order, to gain a harrowing insight into the lives of the slaves who worked here. Step inside the farm and grinding mill to witness the power of the Rio Canas and how it operates the still-working hydraulic turbine. If you don't feel like taking a tour, enjoy a self-guided wander through the property. See Hacienda Buena Vista and all Ponce has to offer by arranging your trip with our Ponce holiday planner.

  • Es un lugar maravilloso con excelentes facilidades. Los guías son atentos e informativos. Si prestas atención, es como un viaje en el tiempo del cual te sentirás parte. Definitivamente un lugar muy bonito donde recomiendo visitar. To our island visitors, this is an extraordinary place, full of history and momentum.....😉
  • An excellent tour of an old coffee plantation and mill. See the beautiful waterfall and water system powering the mill, see the baby ducks and donkeys, and tour the quaint main house with many interesting antiques from the old days. Highly recommend.
  • Marvelous tour of an old coffee plantation! You can buy Puerto Rican coffee there, but unfortunately you can only sample the coffee made at the plantation. Our tour guide (bilingual) said they are working on changing that.

  • Amazing place to connect your self with nature. The Hacienda crew have a English guy to understand all about the history.
