The only zoo in Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Zoo was established in 1954 and now houses over 340 animals originating from many continents. Recently renovated to include an aviary, reptile, arthropod and butterfly house, the zoo's mammal residents include lions, giraffes and hippos. Reviews have been varied so check before visiting, in recent years the facilities have been improving. Take plenty of water and snacks, as there are no refreshment facilities.   • The zoo has been improving during the years, it has zip lines in process of construction. The animals look kind of sad. 
  • I do not know or what say, could be devastating. Much love to this Zoo, the animals missing very little and in a dismal state. I went out with a penalty by animals, which should be free in their habitat. The cost which has the input does not apply them. It should be free of charge, not for not paying him if not for what you find there. Sad animals. Or not be seen. Mundi half penalty. The baths without paper and full of cobwebs.
