There are a number of radio and television transmission and re-transmission towers just off the top of the mountain. There is an observation platform at the top of the mountain.

  • The roads really aren't too bad. Crazy boyfriend wanted to bag this high point so we took the wimpy Nissan Versa rental up route 10 and then 10 miles east on 143. For a mountain road, it's pretty good, and there's even a couple restaurants (stop for a tripleta! Excellent food) and gas stations along the way. It's wide enough for two cars to pass fairly comfortably almost the whole way. Watch out for dogs and chickens, and slow down because the potholes get worse the last two miles. The dirt parking area is pretty obvious. Plan on walking the .6 mile "road" to the top. It's pretty steep and in poor condition, I guess some people do drive to the top but you'd have to have 4 wheel drive and no fear. Google maps wanted me to continue going east on 143 but I went back the way we came, so I can't comment on the quality of the rest of 143.
  • Relief is finding a Starbucks kiosk in the radio tower building atop the mountain.
  • The tallest mountain in Puerto Rico. It's a must visit for locals and travelers. The road to get there is in a very bad condition. Make sure to go there with vehicle made for bumpy roads.
  • Best view in the island 360° view in a clear day
  • is very high. be with a group.
