Create an itinerary including Black Sand Beach
Examine the contrast of bright blue water against black sand at Black Sand Beach. This out-of-the-way spot takes a 10-minute trek through a rugged rainforest trail to reach the beach. Once on shore, look for streaks of black stretching among ordinary yellow sand. Eventually the black sand dominates the shoreline and sits in unique contrast to blue water and an orange beachfront covered in green plant life. Inland volcanic materials that wash down a stream during heavy rains form the unique color. • It's about a 10 minute hike down to it. Easy hike and worth it once you arrive. Pretty place for pictures.

  • Beautiful beautiful relaxing beach. This beach is not for those with limited mobility as you have to walk about 10-15 minutes from the road to get there, so pack light! The water was warm and there were wild horses walking around. Also beware that because the sand is black, it gets hotter than regular sand and may burn your feet if you're not careful.
  • Popular and BEAUTIFUL pot to see a special feature of the island beaches. Easy to access and get back to town on a local taxi. The beach I'd a short walk from the road. Note that at present (April, 2021), there aren't any places tobutwsyer or food nearby.
  • Incredible beach with black sand. Rocky and not much of a swimming beach but a must see. The path to the beach is beautiful as well. It’s about a 15 minute walk from the main road.
  • My fiancé and I visited here while in staying in San Juan, Puerto Rico. We drove to Ciebas Ferry Station and took the Ferry to Vieques to see the beach. It was amazing and so very unique we walked the beach and collected stones and relaxed and watched the sunset. Definitely a must! So beautiful!!
  • Absolutely gorgeous place to go!!! Pretty decent walk to the beach, but worth it!
