The Mine Trail (La Mina), El Yunque National Forest
(4.3/5 based on 140+ reviews on the web)
One of the most popular walks in El Yunque, The Mine Trail (La Mina) leads through lush rainforest to an impressive 10 m (35 ft) waterfall. Take a refreshing dip in the cool waters at the bottom of the cascade, or sit by and watch as the water dashes over the huge boulders of the cliffs. At a length of 1.2 km (0.7 mi), the trail takes about 30 to 45 minutes in one direction; walkers of all abilities and experiences should be able to keep up. That said, do wear shoes with traction so as not to slip along slick surfaces. • Not for the faint of heart. Lots of steps and steep inclines. Trail is rocky and wet, very slippery! I slipped twice in my tennis shoes but avoided falling. Approx 40 min. In and 40 min out. Beautiful...  more »
  • After the hike through the forest to get to the falls . Swimming up to the cool running water fall was amazing and unforgettable. One of the coolest thing to do in PR.
