The Mine Trail (La Mina), El Yunque National Forest

(4.3/5 based on 160+ reviews on the web)
One of the most popular walks in El Yunque, The Mine Trail (La Mina) leads through lush rainforest to an impressive 10 m (35 ft) waterfall. Take a refreshing dip in the cool waters at the bottom of the cascade, or sit by and watch as the water dashes over the huge boulders of the cliffs. At a length of 1.2 km (0.7 mi), the trail takes about 30 to 45 minutes in one direction; walkers of all abilities and experiences should be able to keep up. That said, do wear shoes with traction so as not to slip along slick surfaces. • Nice walk down to the waterfall, great for photos, good shoes! The way back uphill is strenuous for unathletic, lots of stairs, partly stone chute, the waterfall itself is not so spectacular, and unfortunately much waste of previous visitors is located at the water point, a pity some visitors won't take how are "Pigs" and their waste themselves, but throw in the nature...
