El Yunque Peak, El Yunque National Forest

(4.3/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web)
Reaching 1,080 m (3,543 ft), El Yunque Peak stands as the second-tallest peak in Puerto Rico. The mountain has a variety of clearly marked hiking trails that range in difficulty from easy to more demanding. Bring waterproof shoes and raincoats to keep you covered in frequent showers. You may also want to have a bathing suit and towel on hand, in case you decide to swim in one of the designated waterfalls and ponds of this exotic paradise. The peak is nearly always covered in mist, which may block the usually mesmerizing view. • El Yunque Rain Forest is one of a kind you can hike walk or run at the end you will be please with the view..
  • The visit is highly advisable as it is the main attraction of the country and for which we are not accustomed to seeing so much vegetation and both green draws enough attention. It is incredible the views offered, the landscape and the waterfalls (many of which you can bathe). The excursion can be in coach or rental car. It is advisable to coach and guide, this way you are attentive to the landscape and at all times we will inform you of what you have around. The first visit is the Observatory, where you report about of you're going to find, plants, insects... There is a shop for souvenirs typical of the forest (important! if you want something from the Park you can buy it in this shop anywhere else in the country will you find). Then there is a room where tell you the story of how the forest was formed (very important!) In this room it is very cold, the air conditioning is too strong, it is advisable to carry fat jacket and scarf). Once the video moves on to visit the forest, making several stops on the tour. It is advisable to: go with time, to see the full forest. Bring raincoat, swimwear, jacket and scarf.

  • All u can see is a bunch of trees. We accessed the peak via ATV although there is probably a trail also. It was extremely muddy as it was raining ( it's a rainforest duh lol). I probably wouldn't hike...  more »
