Snorkel off the shore of Tamarindo Beach, known for its rich marine life. Take a relaxing walk along the rocky beach, collect some seashells, and enjoy the scenic view. Exploring the quiet, isolated beach, you might see endangered anole lizards, crested toads, or pelicans. Rent a kayak and head out into the water to swim, but beware of the rocky coastline and sea floor. Snorkeling or scuba diving, you can encounter numerous sea turtles that inhabit the area, as well as stingrays and colorful fish. If you want to find a good snorkel beach this is it. If you go to the left when you first come on the beach you will find dinner of there best snorkeling sites. We saw several turtles and jelly fish. Along with an assortment of fish and marine life. Not the beach for swimming. Great for diving and snorkeling.
I have explored both Islands Vieques and Culebra and have to say that Culebra has the best beaches for snorkeling. And tamarindo beach was the best one of them all. We saw a few turtles if you go very early in the morning :) Lots of beautiful fishes near the rocky area and just beautiful clear water. This is the best place for snorkeling in the whole Island in my opinion.
Another one of Culebra's great beaches for snorkeling. See turtles and Ray's almost guaranteed. And the diversity of other ocean life is incredible. Throw in the gorgeous crescent beach and surrounding hills covered withe foliage and you have an idyllic setting.
If you are looking to snorkel, this is a great place to go. You can just walk into the water and start snorkeling. We saw sea turtles, stingrays, and many different kinds of fish. Keep in mind it's not the easiest spot to get to. Jeeps would be best, golf carts will have a hard time getting there. However you can catch a taxi for $5 each way per person. We rented our gear near the ferry dock for a very reasonable day rate. $ 7.50 for a mask and snorkel.
Beautiful beach for snorkeling. Saw turtles and a manta ray.
