  • This church is well maintained and preserves the history of the area. There are good views of the local architecture.  more »
  • Excellent learning experience. Not always open. Should call the municipality of San German before traveling to the church so that you don't waste your trip and find it close.  more »
  • This is a really lovely church that was turned into a small museum. It's not very big and won't take much time to get through but the building is lovely and the history is interesting. There's a littl...  more »

  • Excellent Roman Catholic church over 500 yrs. old active museum has great religious images and the alter is umbelivable detailed art well cared for the 3rd oldest church in the caribbean and the 2nd oldest in Puerto Rico a must see place. Great views.
  • The name means the Heavens Gate. It was used for religious services, until it was converted into a museum that have wonderful art pieces. It's always a lovely experience to visit the oldest church in the Western Hemisphere. Tha architecture is so unique that still standing after hundreds of years. So many stories to tell, so much history in just one particular place. It's connected with tunnels that connects all the underground city. There was a rumour that over there are skeletons of babies and womans. Also there's a legend related to the gold bell that was robbed and people still looking for it. Several stories from locals that claim that hear noises and see things like a woman with a black dress during the night.
  • Nice place. This was the first time I enter inside the church. They have some pictures and scutures.
  • I would say the place I visited was more of a chapel rather than Church. However, it was converted to a museum. The artwork that was displayed was amazing.
  • Touristic place .Facts it said the bell front the church can't be heard back than in history to the nearest coast of the island of Puerto Rico
