Playa Sucia, Cabo Rojo

4.6
#1 of 15 in Things to do in Cabo Rojo
Playa Sucia celebrates the Caribbean and nature. Reserve a spot with some shade under a tree and listen to the ocean breeze and waves crashing on the shore. A short hike to the nearby lighthouse grants an unmatched view of the surrounding limestone cliffs and natural bridges. On the beach itself there are no restrooms, nor are there any vendors, so bring your own food and snacks. There also are no lifeguards stationed here, so be sure to supervise children accordingly. • This beach was beautiful. The hiking trails all around it made it even better along with all the shaded areas. We got there at 9am and had the beach to ourselves. The ride in is bumpy but if you go sl...  more »

  • Unreal. White sand. Clear blue water. It is rated as one of the best beaches in the world. It's worth the half-a-mile or so of bumpy road to get there. When here, you might as well check out the light house.
  • Great beach a little tough to get to but worth it.
  • I think All the seaweed in this part of the the ocean finds its way to this beach, walking or swimming is not an option although the waves are kicking and the winds are blowing nicely.
  • Last Sunday I visited La Playuela (Playa Sucia beach) with my husband and kids. I have been here before, when I was a college student. But was my first with the children. I love it with them. The beach can get wavy but on a sunny day like yesterday is just perfect. My baby didn't like the algae at all, but that's ok because if you keep walking to the far end of the beach you there's a section algae free where crystal clear turquoise waters reign. Though, this is the nice section where people with boats like to dock (booo). So far, Playa Sucia is lovely! White powdery sand, clear waters and a bunch of dry trees that provide reasonable protection from the sun. Some have strong enough branches to hang a hammock and relax. You can also hike to the lighthouse from the beach. What I would love from this beach is to have showers!
  • Mesmerizing! Definitely worth the hike we took. White sand, clear as glass ocean water. Pictures do no justice to the real deal.
