Explore a tropical environment and hike to the top of mountains at Bosque Nacional El Yunque. Take one of the many trails to discover an abundance of plant and animal life within both the rainforest and dwarf forest. Keep your eyes peeled for the endangered coquis, a breed of indigenous tree frog. For panoramic vistas, follow the well-marked routes and climb to the top of one of the many mountain peaks or viewing towers. Pack a swimsuit and head to one of the small nearby waterfalls to cool off after your hike. Take a waterproof jacket as you can expect heavy rainfall all year round. • Bring your walking/hiking shoes. Not enough visitor parking so get there EARLY!! Well maintained trails to walk upward. Many trails still closed from the hurricane.  more »
  • We really enjoyed time in the nature of the rain forest. So many beautiful plants, animals, very comfortable temperature. Highly recommend for at least small walk.  more »
  • Beautiful place to visit. Perfect for couples and families. So many amazing photo opportunities and it’s was amazing to be up in the clouds. We went on a day that was raining, but we still had a...  more »

  • Very nice park, unfortunately when we were there, many of the hiking trails were closed because they hadn't been reopened after the hurricane. But everything else was on point, the park rangers are super nice and helpful, we talked with one of them about the wildlife and he showed us his bird-call app so we could identify birds. The pools and waterfalls and great to cool down!
  • El Yunque is a beautiful place. It's easy to get there, the only thing is that there is limited parking for the trails etc so watch out for that. It also gets a little cooler when your up there so it's nice and refreshing! All in all, a beautiful place to visit! A must go!
  • Beautiful even in the rain! Loved the walk to the waterfall pool. Took a nice swim even though it was cold at first.
  • I never dreamed I’d be in this magical place! Come early or during the week and get the waterfall all to yourselves. Juan Diego waterfall area, and if you are adventurous you can climb up more and have the top to swim in!
  • Beautiful destination, although after Maria it is still not up and running. You can still go and see a couple waterfalls, but some of the main waterfalls are closed and there's not much place for hiking down nice paths. A lot of the locals have made their own paths to a waterfall which was very nice, but don't bother going to the upper waterfalls as the hike is not worth the trip
