  • This place is gorgeous! I read a review that Waze won't take you there, but we used Waze and plugged in Rio Tanama Waterfalls and it took us there. You can also plug in Rio Tanama to Google Maps...

  • You are probably looking to go to the waterfall so search for this on the map "Primera Cascada de La planta" that will take you straight to a parking area where they charge $5 dollars. The first waterfall is a short walk from where you park, the second more impressive fall is a few mins up river. The hike there is not too challenging. The hike is going to be the funnest part of the journey. Bring your phones the pic spots are great
  • There are two waterfalls here. Getting here was trippy. Reading the other reviews, I agree that GPS/Google will take you through a neighborhood of extremely tight and windy roads. I'm not sure two way traffic is meant for this road, but they make it work. The road dead ends and there was the most incredible lady there (along with a ton of other folks just enjoying their day) guiding traffic and helping with parking. Since there's a mountain next to a one lane road next to a flowing river, it's tight parking. She was extremely helpful and from what I understand this is private property/parking and she's just doing this so things flow better. I believe it was $3 to park. Tip her. We walked the path to the first water fall and as I'm setting up the tripod to take photos, a gentleman came up to us, showing us photos on his camera of the 2nd waterfall. He only spoke Spanish and sadly I didn't understand him, but I understood he was showing me that there was a huge waterfall just up the river a bit. The locals are so proud of their area and eager to show their beautiful island to others. We waded the river about 7 minutes (we're in our 50's, if you're younger you'll go faster) to get to the other fall. The river is slippery and tricky rocks. Wear appropriate shoes. I'm so glad we made the trek, the 2nd fall is absolutely gorgeous! Folks were playing around in the pool below it...just gorgeous. On our way out we met another local who was extremely friendly and we struck up a conversation with him. He explained that if the water from the fall ever turns brown, get out of the river. It's a result of it having rained up the mountain and debris is being washed down. I thought that was extremely helpful advice.
  • Early morning visit Best time For your eyes only
  • The water looks like that because it's been raining a lot
  • Beautiful place. Nice river and weather fall. Great place to pass the day with family and friends
