The company dates back to the 17th century and is considered to be one of the largest, oldest Port houses in the world. The Late Bottle Vintage-style liquor--the most popular premium Port in Canada and England--was pioneered by the company. • €12 input for a boring visit with audio guide style Museum (not even in Italian). Only merit is the garden where you can enjoy 2 glasses of wine (without too much explanation about the type of wine).

  • Informative tour around the lodge with handheld sets as guides (covering a number of languages). Gave the history of the lodge, how port was made, about the vineyards and the geographical importance o...  more »
  • You have to climb steep slopes from the port, is one of the most remote, but it is worth. The Organization of the visit is very good, the audio guides work great and give clear and concise explanations. There are projections of videos and photos during the trip that complement very well the explanations of the audio-guides. Very neat and visit facilities learn and enjoy the secrets of Oporto. The price is 12 euros/adult and € 6 up to 12 years. Includes tasting of 2 ports per adult ticket in a pleasant garden with peacocks walk freely at the end of the visit. It includes children refreshing grape juice and cookies, which my kids loved it. You can complete the ports that give with cheeses, chocolates, almond... sold at the tasting garden bar.

  • LOVE this place. Extremely helpful staff and you can head to the tasting garden even if you haven't done the tour. 3 ports starting at 12 euros and they are delicious. You can sit outside in the secret garden which is surrounded by vines and greenery. Very beautiful. There are a few peacocks running around too! I loved this place and would go back!!
  • Off the beaten track port cellar, producing some of the best port wine in the world. Their restaurant has amazing views of Porto and food is brilliant. It's also much quieter than the caves on the main street. And yo7 don't have to wait for designated visit slots. You just get an audio guide Can't recommend it highly enough.
  • The self-guided tour was interesting and the wind tasting delicious. The visit was worth it. However, the wines in the shop are overpriced. I thought it would be cheaper to buy it there since this is their official shop where they store their wines. Nope. It's cheaper to buy them at the tourist shops on any of the major streets in Gaia or Porto. Do the tour, but skip their souvenir shop. You can find exact same ones at cheaper price out there
  • One of the best port lodges around. It has a beautiful and cosy bar where you can either take tours or simply order port by the glass to try. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant is essential dining if you can afford it. The food is superb and the service outstanding. There are stunning views of Porto whether you sit inside the restaurant or on its terrace in warmer weather. This is an unhurried dining experience, so if you are in a rush this is probably not the best choice, as lunch can take up to two hours. A must try for foodies though.
  • Interesting guided tour with sampling of their products at the end... very well informed guides and you get the whole experience visiting the cellar where the Port is aged... big bar and restaurant with great views of the river and city...
