  • Access to this cave is not easy, because away from the docks. take small alleys uphill (watch out for cars). The advantage is that it's less touristy. It is better to speak Portuguese or Spanish. But the host is correct, the visit is good, tasting too (pay, but affordable). It is better to go with a guide or a local person (example server from your hotel).

  • We have all understood the visit was in Spanish, but it was very short. I think that the visit is very touristy and is not necessarily very traditional! In any case, it is possible to taste for cheap (5 Euro 3 glasses) port at the end of visit!

  • I had the great fortune to visit Porto with a friend who is also a local, and who managed to get me into 3 Port cellars for tours and tastings (I know... I simply felt duty bound!) Offley cellars were...  more »

  • It was an interesting experience and the guide told a lot of the history about port and it's origin. For 7.50 you can taste three different port's at the end of the tour.
  • The group leader at the winery told us really good stories about the whole procedure of creating wine starting from the harvests in Douro Valley to the final steps made at Porto. During the visit you mainly see big barrels but these kind of tours are not focusing on visual attractions, the history and story telling are the main and important parts because this is the only way you can find out why Porto wines are so unique. The tasting is nice, you can rest a little bit sitting in a cold cellar and have 3 wines for 7,5€ which is a very reasonable price, you also have the opportunity to buy those wines which you liked the most.
  • A very good showing for port. The tour was really well donee and the tasting were a nice end to the tour that helped explain what wee were drinking. The location was good and I would put it on your list as a place to visit when your in the city
  • Amazing tour round the port house. Very good guide and even better value for money!! Well worth a visit!
  • Apart from the tasting in the end, the "tour" is mostly an oral lecture about port-making (which you can read on Wikipedia) with a background of stacked barrels in a dimly lit and smelly cellar. You won't see anything of the production process. But at €6 including two half glasses of port, it's not too expensive.
