  • It must be said that from the square in front of the monastery enjoys a beautiful view over the Harbor, but here ends part apprrezzabile: in fact, the "visit" of the monastery includes a small room with some displays and access to a neglected little enclosure that makes more sadness than anything else. It would be a dot (if possible ...), I've added one to the belvedere.

  • Is a must visit for day and night. Best view of the port. The night has a special touch of illumination.

  • Serra do Pilar monastery is the ancient and well worth a visit. Tell your story panels and there are guided tours with explanations very interesting and on the tour and under military control, we can visit the interior of the Church and also the viewpoint that there is in the upper part and it's amazing the views that we have there and is very worthwhile.

  • Good view on Porto There is available 2 options - museum and church.Ticket to the museum costs 2 euro, but museum is not interesting. There nothing to see. You can see the church only at certain time. Ticket costs 4 euro.
  • Beautiful to see from the outside, across the river. Really not worth going to if you can only see the cloister. The church is only open at specific times.
  • Well worth taking the guided tour to see inside the church and climb to the top (103 steps)
  • A great point of view over Ribera and Porto. From there you can admire beautiful sunset views over the city
  • Historical building featuring an incredibly original architecture of different styles and epochs, but most remarkable is the Rococo church and cloister, both of perfectly circular shape. Remarkable decorative details in carved granite stone of a very rare colour. The place was taken away from the property of the religious order and stopped being a monastery in the times of King Joseph I and under the politics of nationalizing a lot the catholic church' property, under the initiative of the Prime-Minister at the time, Marquês de Pombal. Henceforth a military base, now of Artillery, it withstood heroically ver strong and severe attacks by the french invading army of Junot, without having ever been taken down.
