Graham's Port Lodge, Vila Nova de Gaia

(4.7/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
Wine lovers and cultural connoisseurs will appreciate the renovated museum and historical cellars at Graham's Port Lodge. Discover the art of port wine-making through a cinematic exhibition on the Douro vineyards, which was added to the site in 2012. Consider a walk through the museum housing artifacts from the company, the land, and its history. You can tour the wine cellars at the lodge, which were established in 1890 and hold 3,200 barrels, as well as a vintage collection of 19th-century bottles. Finally, you may sample the port wines for yourself at a public or private tasting. You also can take in views of Porto and dine at the Vinum Wine Bar and Restaurant. • Had read enough about this Winery, my husband is sommelier and you intereaba the theme. So a few months earlier had already booked the tour with scheduled and in Spanish through the page of them. We crossed from Oporto by the Luis I bridge, ignored those who say it is a very remote Winery, if they like to walk, visit request type 2 in the afternoon and they lunch in Oporto in the Bank, then go walking over the bridge, below, and will be strolling the banks of Vila Nova da Gaia, then up a little by the end of the road , (is all signposted), they arrive at the winery, it's a beautiful walk and walk does well! We arrived timely and attended us specific, first we showed a very good video from the cellar with its origin and history. The Winery is beautiful. The excellent guide. To my husband loves to Oporto, to me is not one of the wines that I like most and however was very excited about the visit. We asked 2 different tastings and wine tasting to choose would be the price of admission, was one of 10 euros and another 35 euros, the 10 euros includes 1 Ruby, 1 Tawny 10 and a LBV (Late Bottled VIntage) from 2011, EUR 35 3 1983, 2000 and 2007 VIntage tasting. To the have a tasting of 35 euros is us allowed do it in a Hall beautiful with boisserie, books old, daily of time, and an illumination precious as will see in the photos. It was a wonderful experience. On the way back, a little bit tired already, we got out of the cellar and take funicular coaster that leaves them at the top of the bridge and from there, with the Sun in the evening to our backs, illuminating the entire city of Porto, Dorado there returned, very happy, the promenade, the visit, care in the winery, the expertise of the Guide (sorry (, have last almost 3 months and not remember the name), the tasting, the funicular, and the return to Porto illuminated by the Sun of the afternoon! Unforgettable!

  • If it is a few days in Porto, one imperative Nova de Gaia to Vila to visit one of the port wine caves there. After there's some of it, but Graham's recommended to me, the decision fell slightly. First of all: exciting themes with nice tasting at the end. However she has demotivated-looking lady, who has held the lead, me quite the pleasure taken. The fact that three guides were at the same time and the other two guides had louder voices, did unfortunately not better... Very bad drum.

  • Very charming and romantic terrace with a good view to the city center. Excellent tapas and wine. Expect high prices. Still highly recommend. But be prepared to not very caring service as the place is so popular - we waited like 10 minutes and nobody noticed us. And if you catch somebody they say they will send a colleage to you but nobody comes. And you wait and wait and wait. But the ambience and view outweighs all this.
  • My wife and I visited Graham's and also Taylor's. We are port lovers and although we enjoyed both lodges, we preferred the Graham's tour and tasting. We tried the premium tasting of 3 Tawny ports and enjoyed the experience. Our guide was a young lady who knew her subject well and made the tour enjoyable. Saving up,for the 1955 vintage as I was born that year !
  • A hike up the hill, but a beautiful view at the top. Good tour, very informative. Amazing company that's been around for centuries. Port was tasty. Not much of a port drinker at all but they had a good variety and tastings specifically meant for beginners. Bring a friend and try two different sets to share!
  • Beautiful view of the city with outdoor seating and excellent port wine. Try the crusted port...my favorite by far!
  • Nice tour and tasting experience. Very good selection from the symilton family port produce to buy. Offering delivery abroad
